Action Through Enterprise is transforming the lives of thousands of people in one of the poorest and most remote parts of Ghana. Working with communities in the Upper West, this growing charity is opening the door to education and enterprise for everyone, even the most marginalised. Its impact ripples through families, villages and districts – and down through generations.
Funding from Beatrice Gilmore Charitable Trust has allowed Action Through Enterprise to establish a Technology and Learning Zone in its Inclusion Centre in Nandom District, to transform rural access to technology. This initiative has benefitted school pupils, disabled children, entrepreneurs and the whole community, bringing new opportunities for education, trade and vital connections with the wider world.
The project is reported to have been a great success. The centre has been completed and is fully operational throughout the week with 100 registered children able to access it as well as a range of other groups who use the centre and a separately funded community library. The increased computer skills of the children attending is the desired outcome and the project is now looking to transport children from rural areas to the centre so they can get their first taste of technology. There is more information about the project on the Action Through Enterprise website.
