Child Rescue Nepal

Child Rescue Nepal works to end child slavery in Nepal. For 25 years, they have been rescuing children from exploitation and abuse in circuses, factories, restaurants and construction sites. They have rescued over 950 children, and supported their rehabilitation towards happy, independent lives.

Funding from Beatrice Gilmore Charitable Trust supported talented school leavers in the trafficking-prone district of Makwanpur by offering the education and training they need to develop independent livelihoods. Without these opportunities they would have remained trapped in poverty and would be vulnerable to early marriage or forced labour.

Alongside education and training opportunities, this pilot project offered financial support for food, clothes and rent, and life skills training to help young people develop their confidence, employability, decision making and budgeting skills.
